Dale Ambler
Associate Pastor“Religion and denominational structure can be a turn off for many today. So, when I think about what it means to be Presbyterian I simply start first by centering on Jesus Christ. As followers of Christ we are called to use our God-given gifts to be a transforming difference in this world. First Presbyterian Church is wonderful community of faithful people – a community that lives out being Christ Centered, Family Oriented, Child Friendly and Missional. If you are interested in family events, programs for all children, sports and recreation opportunities, worship and small group opportunities that are grounded biblically, or simply a chance to share your musical talents - all grounded in a love for Jesus Christ, then come and take a look, you won't be disappointed.

Dale Hammond
Pastor of VisitationE-Mail | BlogThe jailer at Philippi in Acts 16:30 asked Paul and Silas, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” The simple reply was (and is), “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.”
Believe is a verb; it requires action on our part. That belief will show in the life. There can be no true attachment to Christ which will not show itself in the life. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. It is impossible that there should be true belief in the heart of a person unless it should show itself in the life and conversation. There will be a change in the life. This is the only test of its existence and its power; and hence it is made so important in the life of faith.
The Christian life is not easy but it is simple. Romans 10:9-10, “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
In the vicissitudes of life we followers of Jesus Christ do not always feel saved. Our life situations change every day, but “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Bo Mircea
Director of Children's MinistryLuke 2:52 (MSG)
And Jesus matured, growing up in both body and spirit, blessed by both God and people.
This is my prayer for all children and families of our faith community. I believe that the future looks brighter, when parents, church and community all work together to help raise and make a positive impact in the lives of the children that God has entrusted us with. As you read this, I challenge you to see what is your place in this equation, what impact are you making for the future? If you are still looking for a place where you can make a difference, stop by and see what God is doing at 1st Pres.

Ken Myers
Director of MusicE-Mail | Blog"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but put it on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." (Matt. 5:14-16)
"I am delighted that First Presbyterian Church in Joliet has provided me a stand where my light can again serve Christ and his people. I look forward to welcoming back returning members of the music program. I know many of you busy folks out there have thought more than once about being a part of the music program here at First Pres. I am extending you an invitation to be a part of this music family and encouraging you to let your light shine through Cherubs, Choristers, the Men's Choir, Women's Choir, the Chancel Choir, Bells, or as a soloist or instrumental musician. From my past experience, I can assure you that you will be glad you did. The friends you make and the satisfaction you receive will enrich your life."

Shaina Hoffman
Choristers Choir Director"Music has always been an important part of my life ever since I was young. The connection I made with choir gave me a clear understanding of what God intended my life to involve...people and music. I attended Illinois State University for my bachelors degree in music education. Currently I teach K-6 general music at an elementary school. I am excited to be a part of the Zoom program through the Choristers Choir and the youth group with Heartbeat Choir."
